Cool website: Minimalissimo.com

Didn't think I was into Minimalism... Ohmygiddyauntiwassowrong. If we're talking personal style, I am all for less is more, but always preferred "stuff" when it came to home and decor. But this website, Minimalissimo - It's just breathtaking beyond speech to look at.

Modern wisdom

Everything I have

If you had to photograph everything you own, would it fit on a piece of paper measuring 40 x 60 inches? In this work, entitled Everything I Have, artist Simon Evans makes a stark visual statement on consumerism, as well as his own personal consumption. The work was on exhibition at the James Cohan Gallery in NYC in 2009.

Wallpaper love, the sequel

It's all a little bit scrumptious, really...

Hummingbirds and Hibiscus flowers

What? No floral mural in your kitchen?

Stylish Homes: Dani Rosen

There is one New Year's Eve in particular, I will never forget. It was Summer, it was the eighties and I was high on the sounds of Tears for Fears, Hunters and Collectors and (don't judge me) Aerosmith. At 11.59pm on December 31st 1989, Dani Rosen and I were lying on a footpath in Sydney's Vaucluse, looking at the stars, patiently waiting to usher in the nineties. We hung out a lot at high school, and our friendship continued to truck along nicely when we both got into New South Wales University's College of Fine Arts campus - I did Design and Dani chose Fine Arts. But then, well, I guess you could say "life" got in the way. And we have since lost touch completely. Dani was always creatively mature beyond her years, her bedroom as a teen was a perfectly harmonious mish-mash of found objects and strong colour. So imagine my delight when I saw her perfect little light-filled apartment  featured in the March 2009 issue of Real Living magazine. Enjoy it. I did. Oh, and please check out her websites, Dan300 Designs and The Style Tree.

Cool website update: A Collection a Day

I introduced you to "A Collection a Day" a few weeks back on Table Tonic, and in case you were wondering how San Francisco resident Lisa is trucking along with her daily task, the answer would be "very nicely thank you for asking", I would imagine. 30 days down, 335 to go. Daunting? Pffft! (I pity the girl, I have to be honest...)

The Toro Tissue Ring

Scott Christensen, a Minneapolis Industrial Designer is the brains behind the beauty that is the Toro Tissue Ring. On his website, he explains "...it became obvious that for one tissue to follow another consistently, a slight pressure is needed on the tissues to engage the folds. In a less-than-full box there is no pressure, thus the typical failure. I pressed on the tissues in various ways with my hands and began to imagine an object resting on top of the stack, applying a constant pressure. I sketched a few possibilities. Most involved a box with a floating top to rest on the tissues. It wasn't until I built the first model that I realized the box was completely unnecessary." Hell to the yeah! Rather love. The Toro Tissue Ring retails for US$18 and is available online at a bunch of places (even eBay, it seems). Just Google it.

Hermes: The Princess and the Pea

Hermes Spring/Summer 2010 campaign featuring Karlie Kloss, shot by Paolo Roversi. Did you spot the pea?! I could die. A real life, designer label fairytale.

Paris: Made By Hand by Pia Jane Bijkerk

I keep hearing and reading about about this intriguing little book "Paris: Made By Hand", but didn't realise the author was none other than Pia Jane Bijkerk, one of my favourite bloggers! If she's one of yours and/or the book tickles your fancy bits, haul ass down to the new Berkelow bookstore in Newtown, Sydney next thursday february 4, between 5:30pm-7:30pm. Pia has organised an impromptu meet up & booksigning before she jets off to her other home, a houseboat in Amsterdam.

PS Pia's second book, "Amsterdam: Made By Hand" (below) will be out on April 13th! Just look at that cover. Perfect.

Duck egg blue

And so my love affair with duck egg blue grows... Everything about this room is quite heaven, really. Spot on.

Moodboards

Three delightful interiors "moodboards" from Your Home & Garden magazine. The first is for stylist Karen Patterson's craft room, the second for Marcel Gull's "gentlemen-only" lounge and the third was Leeann Yare's dining room inspiration.

Art Deco lighting with a twist

Had what is commonly known as the perfect day today. I won't go into too much detail (yes it involved a mani/pedi), but had THE BEST lunch with my excellent friend, KM. This was my "Summer Salad":

This was KM's "Pork Roll" (OMGsogood):

But THIS, my friends, is why we're here. The lights. Check it. Oodles of Art Deco fab-ness hanging from the ceiling in a posie of pastel prettiness:
