Table Tonic: "Feature interview"

Lovely blogger Claire, of Scissors Paper Rock (top name!) fame, has posted this lovely little interview with your truly up on her blog today. Thank you sweet Claire - it's always such a warm and fuzzy feeling getting in touch with fellow bloggers. It never ceases to amaze me how truly kind and generous you all are.

And PS "Whether you are celebrating your child’s birthday, announcing to the world your new little bundle of joy, saying “I Do”, launching a new business or hosting the party of the year….let Scissors Paper Rock create the magic with you by fabricating a custom line of stationery to compliment you and your event!" And her goodies are "earth-friendly" too. Bonus points. (Below) Is this not the most adorable thing you've ever seen?

Glass-domes-as-retail-displays

First there was this one at Belinda, now from the "glass-domes-as-retail-displays" files, comes this fine example, courtesy of Byron Bay's finest, Strangerader (found via the lovely Shannon Fricke)... PS Glass domes are quite popular in homewares stores right now. If you buy one, try a little fashion DIY at your place - a shiny shoe here, a sparkly purse there...

Desk jewellery!!!

A handmade "Ling the elephant and monkey tape dispnser"? Somebody stop me, or I might just have to buy one! (Warning: You may come off 158 clams poorer). "This fantastic piece was designed by Iomoi and custom made by a New York sculptor. Each piece is hand-poured,unique and weighs approximately 3 pounds." Ever since feasting my eyes on the exquisite transformation of Judy Aldridge's Dallas home, I'm big into gold-y, brass-y accents. Again. Ebay? I'm coming for a rummage. PS Chinoiserie Chic? I owe you my third born for alerting me to a big lump of shiny I never knew I neeeded!

Rosie's Cottage: Beautiful AND budget-friendly!

In a few weeks time, Mr Tonic, Medium Tonic and myself will be toasting our marshmallows over an open fire (Mr Tonic's non-negotaible "must-have") at this quaint little establishment, in the glorious Blue Mountains. While Mini Tonic is kindly cared for by her "stylish" grandparents, Rosie's Cottage (I love it already) will be catering to our every whim, warming the cockles of our hearts (and feet) with her veritable buffet of heating arrangements. And if you've ever been handed the unfortunate task of researching budget accommodation in the Blue Mountains, you'll be familiar with the term "fuckloads of pine and retina-burning interiors". Hence my delight when I stumbled upon Rosie and her Cottage. Table Tonic-worthy? You betcha! And PS? Cheap as chips (relatively speaking...).

Online Magazine - Glossy: The "Model Off Duty Issue"

Haven't heard of Glossy? Think Lonny, but reincarnated as a sickeningly gorgeous Y-Gen New Yorker, with the dress sense of, well, a "model off duty". Or, to put it simply, IT'S A FREE FASHION MAGAZINE, PEOPLE! A good one too. So, what's in their sixth issue? Well, according to Erica over at Girl With a Satchel, "loads of skinny fashionistas, a nipple, model bloggers, fierce makeup, neon nails, leather shorts, cigarette smoking, a feature on magazines and another titled 'Power Girl vs. Domestic Goddess', Olivia Palermo and the 'Skinny Intern'". And if you like their mag? You might just enjoy their blog. PS Hot tip: Click "Fullscreen" and use your arrows to turn pages. Because when it comes to fashion, bigger = better!

Our dining room, 2 ways!

Last night, I found myself flicking (or should I say clicking) through some of our personal photos from the past 5 or 6 years. Below is a picture of the room we now call the dining room - this photo is actually part of the real estate campaign from all those years ago, when we were looking to buy/bought our house! Interesting to see how the previous owners used the room vs the current arrangement. I think it works both ways, don't you?

If you haven't yet had the pleasure of July/August 2010 Vogue Living, two of the raddest interior-y, design-y bloggers, (I'll call them Lucy and Raina because that is their names), have taken it upon themselves to enlighten you. Table Tonic: The week in review

Things I loved this week:
1. Discovering a new website is always thrilling, but when it's Pictory? Mega-watt thrillage. Sidenote: A little tedious to navigate (and easy to miss stuff), but well worth the effort.

2. I noticed my favorite house must have passed in at auction, and is now on the market for a cool $2.45 million. Ugh. I would look sogood in that house... (Note to self: get 173 more day jobs). Probably not ideal to file this under "Things I loved this week". If it was $14.95 though? Yes, I would defo love that.

3. I've given tea and coffee the flick. Just for a bit. It seems to interfere with my eating habits to the point where I simply can't fit fruit into the schedule. I generally loathe herbal tea, but have been downing Celestial Seasonings Lemon Zinger by the gallon. Mmmm. Downing another as I type...

4. I finally nabbed a copy of the elusive LOVE magazine (published quarterly). It's the bomb, Tonic-ettes. Think Paris Vogue, only, in English! Very cool (and "style maverick" Katie Grand is pure genius).

5. Gave my online store homepage a freshen up. Look!
PS Don't forget, if you've bought something from tabletonic.com.au and would like to share some photos (like this), drop me an email! Pleasepleaseplease! PPS How was your week? Any "loves" or "loathes"?

"Craptacular to spectacular": Kim's LA cottage reveal

I shouldn't spoil it and just show you the "afters", but this little 1940's LA cottage makeover is just too good. The mission? "Take it from craptacular to spectacular". See it and read all about it (complete with "before's") over here at LA-based Kim Myles's gorgeous blog. A bit about her? "Television Host, Interior Designer, erstwhile Hairdresser. I live for beautiful things (animal, vegetable or mineral)". Hot-foot it, peeps!

An email request from Professor "Syd"...

Last night, my father-in-law, a practising professor of micro-biology at the tender age of seventy-something, just sent his 4 sons and 3 daughter-in-laws the following email: "Tomorrow there will be a partial eclipse of the moon (54%) starting around 8.10pm.  All my grandchildren should watch this. Parents to explain the science of this." Too good not to share, right?

Giveaway alert: Mrs Woog's Favourite Things

My son, Jasper has a friend called H. H sprung from the loins (actually, he came out "via the sunroof") of Mrs Woog, who can cook like a demon, drink like a fish and shop like Lindsay Lohan on pay day, which is why I now call her a "friggin' awesome friend". Mrs Woog is witty to the power of 17 jillion, and she likes to write - a killer combo. Shame on you if you haven't already visited Woogsworld, because I have instructed you to do so on more than one occasion. Anyhoo, she currently has 2 Benefit Instant Brow Pencils along with 2 Benefit Highbrow Pencils to give away to readers. "The Highbrow Pencil helps you look like you have not just come home from a night out with Russell Brand. It is like an eye-lift. Without the use of stitches and shit." Amen. Enter HERE.

Pink flower hat lady (above) was found as a suitable point demonstrator, over at bellaMUMMA, otherwise known as the beauty bible which masquerades as a blog. The lovely Nikki, the bella mumma herself, is an ex-Cosmo mag colleague of mine, and rest assured, as an ex-Beauty Editor, she is well qualified to be dishing the beauty dirt! Think tips, tricks, time savers and budget buys a-plenty! And check it, Tonic-ettes - this is a scene from bellaMUMMA's boudoir:

Dreamy, huh? The girl's got style. But there's still more - Table Tonic recently shared her "glow & tell" tips and tricks for bellaMUMMA. Read 'em riiight here.
