Maximalism: Turn around and put ten things on!

Ahhhh nice. Seems my inner-teenager still worships at the altar of Teen Vogue... PS It's a lot to take in, I know. Click the pic to enlarge the goodness.

Decorate Your Digs: Craigslist TV

I honestly scoffed when I saw this video was over 7 minutes long. Who has time in their life for a 7 minute video. Well? I watched it all. Lauren is adorable to the maxness. And yes. She needs her own TV show like, NOW! But for the minute, her website ilufflife will have to suffice! PS Found via Design me Daily, who found it via Desire to Inspire. Just watch it.

Eight years ago today...

Mr Tonic and I got hitched! That would make today our eighth wedding anniversary. Bless. (And no, that isn't us in the boat. Mr Tonic wouldn't be caught dead in boat shoes...)

Have YOU met Miss Jones?

I have been lusting after Have you met Miss Jones's incredible range of modern-to-boot bone china goodies for, like, ever, so when I saw their Angel Wings in a certain issue of Real Living magazine, I had to, had to, HAD TO have them! We'll be moving house in a mere 3 weeks (the mere thought of which has given me a full blown cold!?), and Mini Tonic #1's room is coming along nicely in my head. The timber daybed I bought 6 months back will emerge from storage, and I'm thinking these should look just dandy on the wall (which will have been painted the soon-to-be-found perfect shade of white). PS Mr Tonic's response? "I think devil horns would have been more appropriate". Amen to that.

And if you haven't had a good scout around Have you met Miss Jones's website? YOU MUST! It's positively bursting at the seams with things you never even knew you needed, but do... need. Oh, and PPS She has a fabbo blog too!

Table Tonic Top 5: Interiors books

A crop of hot new interiors titles have just hit the shelves, so start writing those wishlists, Tonic-ettes!

(below) "For years (the now defunct) "Metropolitan Home" magazine published a favourite annual issue known as the "Design 100", which honoured invention and creativity in international design. "Metropolitan Home's Design 100" is, in a sense, a book-size version of the best selling issue, focusing on the best homes and the best rooms ever to have appeared in "Met Home".

(below) "'Interiors by yoo' aims to inspire the reader with design advice and thoughts from four of the most talented names in the design world: superstar designer Philippe Starck, rock royalty Jade Jagger, avantgarde Dutchman Marcel Wanders and queen of low-key luxe Kelly Hoppen. Over 192 pages, it brings together yoo’s most cutting-edge interior design projects for hotels and private residences around the world."

(below) "'Real Life Decor' brims with ideas for repurposing, reusing or replacing your accents and furniture to keep your home fresh and functional as well as wallet-friendly. Illustrated with lively photos and simple how-tos, the book is divided into 7 sections that offer multiple approaches to dressing up walls, sewing simple soft furnishings, recycling old furniture, brightening lamps and accents, making multipurpose furnishings and storage, and sprucing up floors and ceilings."

(below) "Taschen's Architecture Now! 7 features an arching overview of today's architecture, from modern to radically avant-garde. As with previous books in the series, Architecture Now! 7 includes a broad variety of projects from around the world, as well as some works of art that have a direct relation to architecture, from the likes of Giacomo Costa or Shinro Ohtake."

(below) "The 21st century has brought glamour and her sisters, decoration and ornamentation back into home design news. Glamour: Making It Modern reconsiders the homes featured in Metropolitan Home magazine through the following sections:1. Concepts: looks at the defining general notions of Modern Glamour, such as sheen and scale. 2. Objects: examines elements of home decoration which are inherently glamorous. 3. Rooms: tours homes where everything comes glamorously together. With a directory of the designers, some of the best in the business, and a list of resources for available products, Glamour: Making It Modern is purely inspirational and absolutely accessible."

Where to buy? As always, try Book Depository (free shipping worldwide!), Amazon, Booktopia...

Just in! Moroccan Wedding Blankets at Table Tonic

I'm going to have to apologize in advance, Tonic-ettes, as my blog is going to take quite a beating in the coming weeks, and my excuses are many - amongst them, moving house (agaaaiiin!), Christmas and a steady stream of exquisite global treasures arriving for the Table Tonic online store. Like these wedding blankets - mostly vintage, and oh-so heavily encrusted with thousands of the prettiest sparkly metal sequins... (Swooning at your own online store is a good sign, right?)

Gimme! of the day: Agate slice 14 karat gold necklace

"A gorgeous and glowing agate specimen is wrapped by a 14 karat gold bezel for an impressive statement piece. Suspended on a delicate 28" 14 karat gold chain, this is a necklace you'll treasure for years. This is the last one!" (US$915.00) GIMME! PS Dear Melissa Joy Manning. You. Rock. No pun intended.

Scenes from my hood: 7am

So, we put the plasma in the garage and this is what happens every morning at 7am - A masterpiece (this one aptly titled "city") in pencil, courtesy of Mini Tonic number 1. Seeing a wild and carefree imagination directly transferred onto paper has to be one of the loveliest things about being a parent...

Modern Wisdom

*ahem* Excuse my language, but...

GDB Architecture (Mr Tonic) featured in Home Beautiful!

Last Monday, the December 2010 issue of Australian Home Beautiful magazine went on sale, featuring this beautiful home designed by none other than my very own Mr Tonic, of (award winning!) GDB Architecture fame. It's rather lovely, don't you think? (Me? Biased?)

(above) Dear Mr Tonic, in our next house will you build me and the Mini-Tonics a glass pool? Please? Can we? Can we?

The December 2010 issue of Home Beautiful is on sale now, and (Sydney-based) Graeme Bell of GDB Architecture
can be contacted on 0416-039-686.

Happy RUE day!!!!!!

It's here!! Have you seen it? What did you think?! Issue two of online decor mag, Rue has landed on our virtual desks and it's bursting at the seams with decor-y goodness (and a whopper at 297 pages, just quietly!). Once again, huge congratulations to Crystal, Anne & Caitlin and the rest of the Rue family. PS Incase you missed it, here's the first issue of Rue. PPS Make sure you view it in "full screen" mode. Mmmm...

"Hiring a hubby. And giving my house a make-over."

I recently did an interior "zhush" for my beautiful friend (and boss, during my tenure at Cosmopolitan magazine) Mia, and she wrote about it yesterday on her fab blog, the aptly named Mamamia - click to read "Hiring a hubby. And giving my house a make-over".

Vintage Moroccan Wedding Blanket madness!

I've had a number of enquiries about the Moroccan wedding blankets on the Table Tonic online store and I can finally reveal that the following beauties will be arriving in the next couple of weeks, (along with a bunch of others!):

And bonus points? They're actually a very practical
"blanket", as they're made from 100% hand loomed sheep's
wool, so are super warm in winter. The rest of the year?
Well, they just sit around looking pretty.
I'm extra excited to see the black. Mmmm.....

17 bookmark-worthy Tumblrs I (only) discovered this week

This week's post is dedicated entirely to Tumblr blogs (heavy on the imagery, light on the waffle words). So, you'd want to sit your retinas down and give them a good talking to - they're about to get busy! First up? Cabbage rose.

The other 16 - Polly put the kettle on!

An AMAZING bed headboard for under $200!

Call me crazy, but I'm thinking these Malaysian privacy screens (180 x 120cm) would make a killer bed headboard for a Queen or King size bed! Or heck, even positioned vertically for a Single or King Single. Simply slap on a coat of primer and paint in the colour of your choice. It's a no brainer. Creamy white, egg yolk yellow or the palest icy blue would be my picks. And whether you stand it on the floor, or actually hang it a little higher, so more of it is visible, is up to you! PS I even contacted the seller, who has 7 available at $99 each, and he delivers to Sydney metro for "$40 to $60, depending on the area". I know. Bargain! Oh and PPS Buy it here

"Best use of a Mexican Suzani in a Dressing Room"

And the award for "Best use of a Yellow Mexican Suzani (ahem, buy it here) in a Dressing Room" goes to:

Gimme! of the day: "Wood Lamp White Cord"

Insta-love alert! TAF Architects have scored high in the "refreshingly different" department. This beige beauty would be as "at home" in a baby's nursery as it would be in a bachelor pad - always a good selection criteria. And if you're nodding along at home, you can chuck your credit card at it here (they seem to ship worldwide...)

PS TAF Architects are the crazy-heads who thought these were a good idea at the time!?

Before and after: One stool's story

I rather loved blogger-slash-"interior design & decoration" student Crystal's makeover of this sweet little stool. Click through for part 1 and parts 2 & 3. It's rather pervy!

Gimme! of the day: Annechovie's "Suzani Settee" painting

Like it? OMG me too! Buy it here at Annechovie's Etsy store! PS 40 sleeps, people...

Just a quick note to let you know that our glorious black oriental-style bedside tables are now up for grabs on eBay, in addition to (what seems like) the rest of the house! Click to bid. PS Coming soon? Two children. And a dog. Just kidding. Sort of.
