"Tangerine, Peach & Papaya"

I rather love this collage Emily over at uber-blog Cupcakes & Cashmere recently made in this post, featuring Table Tonic's newest addition - The "Burnt Orange Spot" ikat cushion. Thanks Emily!

The Table Tonic Flea Market is open!

The Table Tonic Flea Market (aka flogging our stylish pre-loved wares on eBay) is once again open for business! Up for grabs this time around:

(above) Our heavenly chocolate brown leather bed which wouldn't fit around the corner into our new bedroom! (And yes, we are STILL sleeping on a mattress on the floor!)

(above) Our 6 dining chairs (so child friendly as they're vinyl!), they're just a little large for our new dining room. I've listed them separately - one lot of four and one lot of two.

(above) The oh-so popular Kartell Ghost stools, which we have nowhere to put in our new house!? So sad. Four of them are now yours for the taking! I've listed them in pairs, so bid on two or all four.
CLICK TO BID!

PS Wishing all my fellow Mums a happy Back to School Day (Phew)!

Our new house: Jasper's room

So this is Jasper's bedroom. He'll be 7 in March, and for the minute, a black and white theme it is! Best thing about this is it's easy to update with a pop of yellow, orange, green, red any colour really, in the form of a cushion, Moroccan leather pouffe or pillowcase. PS We painted the walls in Dulux "Natural White" and sanded/oiled the floors. So here goes:

(below) Before we go on, lets have a look at the room before Mr Tonic, Sam (Hi Sam!) and I worked our magic on it:

(below) The Astro Boy artworks, a gift from Mr Tonic's brother (he bought them in Japan). See how we used them in our previous home here!

(below) A Moroccan Leather Pouffe I bought years ago. Buy yours here from Table Tonic (of course!)

(below) Brass globe and pair of vintage wooden crates from eBay (the other two are in our bedroom as bedside tables)

(below) POP by Sheridan pillowcases, quilt cover from Bed Bath & Table, "Lionel" the Lion from Crabtree & Evelyn (you know you chose the perfect "cuddly" when it goes through the washer and dryer 50 times and comes out looking like new!)

(below) What really impressed me about the POP by Sheridan pillowcases, was the fact that there are 2 flap/fold thingies - One for when you use them white side up, and one for when you use them black side up! Genius.

(below) Where there is a mini photo shoot, there is a Mini Tonic! Anoushka wears a singlet top by Bonds and knickerbockers by Collette Dinnigan (I don't own any Collette Dinnigan, but my 2 year old does. Love that.)

Hope you like it! And for those who might have missed it (yes it's been a busy year) here are Jasper's previous two bedrooms:

Turn this Online magazine cover into a room

I did it! Anoushka's bed is officially high gloss Hermes orange (or Bristol Rum Orange, to be precise)! You may remember this post where I talked about my plans for her new room. Well, bits have stuck and other bits have fallen away and I might just need to fill you in on the new agenda. But lets step back and admire my handiwork for a minute:

Only one coat done, but I'm loving it sick! So here's the (new) inspiration board - In the form of that swoony Massucco Warner Miller bedroom featured on the cover of Ivy & Piper:

(below) And here's my own little "get the look" that I have all ready to go:

(above) 1. Pop by Sheridan "Jiro" pillowcases ($9.95 each) I bought two from here. How awesome are they!

(above) 2. Rectangular silk "Safari" cushions ($69 each). I bought two from here.

(above) 3. Went to Ikea with Bellamumma on Tuesday and bought the popular-to-boot Tarnby rug (popular for good reason - it's such a good buy).

(above) 4. Also bought a Lykta table lamp in white. And, um just $24.95!

5. (above) Following my own advice in this post (and an oldie, but a goldie) I simply had to be a member of the "For Like Ever" club! (It's on it's way from here!)

(above) 6. Going to add a Table Tonic Moroccan Leather Pouffe in either Powder Pink or Fuschia...

(above) 7. And you may remember, this is her little bedside table (eBay), which I've already undercoated and will paint in Dulux high gloss "Vivid White".

So why did the virtual moodboard change so dramatically? A couple of reasons. a) Mr Tonic vetoed wallpaper altogether and b) I got the guilts for not giving my daughter a room with even just a little bit of pink. Well, I hope you dig it!

(above) In other news? I got a haircut today. Rather love it! Happy weekend Tonic-ettes! x

Table Tonic Spotlight: Du Plessis + Sons

If you ever find yourself in Sydney's beachside suburb of Manly, you must pop by Du Plessis + Sons "Miscellaneous Goods Emporium". Opened last October and owned/run by Henke, a fellow ex-South African (and Architect), Du Plessis + Sons is filled with a bang-on edit of goodies sourced right around the world. Mr Tonic, the Mini Tonics and I were walking past last weekend and literally ran accross the road like moths to a yummy homewares-y flame upon catching a glimpse of their front window (below). You know when you just know?

Unfortunately, they don't have a website (yet!), but visit them at their Du Plessis + Sons Facebook page, or say hi at 9-15 Central Avenue, Manly (closed Sundays).

(above) Photographed on the "Burnt Orange" Spot Ikat cushion from Table Tonic.

Upon hearing my squeals of delight at the selection of South African food products, Henke thrust handfuls of Chappies bubble gum and Wilson's caramels at us! PS You can read more about Du Plessis + Sons by clicking the following 2 links - Sunday Collector and Fabrik Store blog. Filing it under "One to watch"!

I know. Pretty fab, huh. Win a $100 gift card from one of my fave online stores, Shopbop - I blogged about a recent purchase here. (And PS That's $100 US dollars, my Aussie friends, so this is you chance to bag over AUD$100 worth of loot!).

Please do me a favour, and even if you don't enter/win this giveaway, go have a browse because Shopbop is one of my oldest online shopping bookmarks and it is quite simply, awesome labels at awesome prices, delivered to your door at the speed of sound (almost).

Colour combo of the day: Duck egg blue + Grey

If anything is going to make me clucky (don't get excited mum) it's a little boy's room decked out in duck egg blue & smoky grey. I'm calling it my new favourite colour combination! So modern. In fact, anything pastel teamed with a pale grey is a delightfully fresh look. When I was little, I had a powder pink & grey room, and let me tell you, I loved it!

A New Years Eve tale (of good fortune!)

A few weeks back on New Year's Eve (somebody say ALMOST FEBRUARY?!), we strolled down to the local Chinese with the Mini-Tonics for what would become a feast of epic proportions. It was truly divine. Prawn crackers (or "prawn biscuits", as Anoushka calls them) sang choy bow, spring rolls, crispy skin duck with plum sauce, toffee coated apple pieces, it was all there. Then we get fortune cookies, and I am on the verge of, you know, very full-ness, so I take mine home (it's my fortune, after all!) and put it in the kiddie "treat draw". Anoushka ate it the other night (hence the tear?!) and I was DYING to see my fortune:

Yee-Haaw! Bring it on. Particularly poignant, given it was a New Year's Eve fortune cookie, I thought! And so far this year, it's already coming true...

13 bookmark-worthy sites I (only) discovered this week

Minted Condition is one of those website discoveries that prompts me to think: "Damn, why didn't anyone bloody tell me about this one?" It's an awesome website. But then so are the other twelve... ENJOY!

The internet just got RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING!!!!

Oh my god I just discovered Pinterest! Just then! My life is officially divided into two parts:  "Pre-Pinterest" and "Post-Pinterest". Oh, it's all over...

Adventures in coffee table purchasing

For the past 6 years, we have lived a completely coffee table-free existence. Having children is hardly conducive to large pieces of sharp-cornered furniture in the same room as the television, and besides, Mr Tonic has developed a habit of p.m floor dwelling, largely due to our uncomfortable (previous) sofa. We now have the benefit of an enormous living room which, despite the introduction of an enormous new sofa, has a gaping hole in the middle of it. So we are now proud owners of a new (but old) coffee table! Here's how the dramatic events unfolded:

4pm yesterday: An email pops into my inbox from HFOC (Home Furniture on Consignment). They have a spunky new website. I proceed to check it out.
4:45pm: They now have furniture categories, so I quickly locate the coffee tables and do a quick scan.
4:50pm: I find one. It's round, a little small, but I ring up to enquire. Already sold. Boo.
4:55pm: I find another one. Same design as the round one, but rectangular. Despite the fact that we had our heart set on a big, round, low coffee table, this one grows on Mr Tonic and I. Rapidly.
5pm: It's ours! Bought, paid for and being picked up by Mr Tonic today. And here she is - Made from Beech and 700cm x 1500cm. And just $440. Insta-love!

I hope you like it! PS Below are some others that very nearly made the cut:

(above) $475 from HFOC. Buy it here.

(above) $990 from Beachwood. Buy it here.

(above) $POA from Mark Tuckey. Buy it here.

(above) $245 from Life Interiors. Buy it here.
